“I was taking pictures of Alcatraz at the time, and while I was taking the pictures, I saw, out of the corner of my eye, a girl walking by. She climbed over the rail, and she did it so smoothly… It was almost like she was going, like she had her own little clubhouse… I don’t know, like she was going to sit on the ledge to eat lunch.
So, I got a couple pictures of her climbing over, and then I started taking pictures of her standing on the ledge, and I realized that this girl’s about to jump. But when I was behind the camera, it was almost like it wasn’t real, because I was looking through the lens. I guess I was waiting for her to jump, because I thought there was nothing I could do. It was too late.
I started yelling out to the girl, you know, asking her what was wrong. She seemed to be speaking in a different language, and basically, like, tuning me out. Like, really not thinking about what I was saying. So, I got up on the rail and I reached out, and I really didn’t know I was gonna be able to grab the back of her jacket… But once I grabbed it, I just lifted her over the rail and got her down on the ground. She started fighting me a little bit, so I just sat on her chest and called 911, and they were probably there within a couple minutes.”

“you can’t build on a permanent foundation knowing that you are eventually gonna move. you gotta learn to live life with a sense of mobility.”
My dad taught me that being able to adapt to your surroundings is the best way to get through life.
“We are all animals, no matter how much we deny it, we gotta learn to adapt quickly, we can’t let little things stop us from moving forward. you can’t stop life because you don’t agree with the food they serve and the customs they have. you gotta learn to accept others and their life. you gotta branch out and be open to the idea that every single one of us live differently.”
I learned this from moving from place to place. I learned to pick up on different type of customs and traditions quickly. You can’t constantly live life thinking that everyone lives exactly like you. No one was made the same. everyone was born to a different background, lifestyle and environment. We were all made so differently and molded to our surroundings. You can’t also expect other to adapt to you. It’s a growing process and some will never get it. To succeed in life, you have to be able to communicate and be able to interact with all sorts of different people. To understand life, you have to be open to others and not constantly wait around for the world around you to change. You have to change yourself and the world around you will do the same. You’ll see life differently and with a more broad prospect.
Also you can’t get too comfortable with the life you are living now knowing that in the near future, there is going to be a huge change waiting. Life is full of surprises and tricks up its sleeves. So the greatest lesson i ever learned from my parents is that you have to be able to understand life from different points of views, you have to keep an open mind or the world will consume you.
“life isn’t easy, thats why you have to learn the technique of living, the fundamentals of life. It’s like you can’t just read one book and expect to know what all the other books in the world are about. You gotta read as much as you can so you have a broad understanding of what is out there. And keep God with you and he’ll teach you how to read correctly but once you know, you can’t just stop at one book, you gotta keep reading on your own. you gotta keep your mind open, constantly add to your knowledge and then you’ll have life down to a science. while you live, you’ll learn that you never stop learning about the little things that make life so damn difficult.”
